I work with a lot of women, and it’s amazing to find how so many people don’t value themselves. I’m sure this happens with men too. For some reason, we don’t think we are beautiful, or worse, we don’t think we are DESERVING of good things in life.
For example, a person compliments you on your brand new shirt that normally costs $40, but you got it on sale with a coupon for $15…they say it looks great, the response? “Oh this thing? I had it in the back of the closet…”
We’ve all been there. Why do we do that? “You’re makeup looks fantastic!” Our response “Oh really, I feel like it’s a little much…” Why not accept that yes, my makeup does look fantastic, and say thank you!
We get compliments yet shy away from them like we aren’t deserving. We look in the mirror and find the flaws, the things that “need” to change, we poke at our “Imperfections” and wish we looked like “that”.
I want to challenge these beliefs. I want to challenge you. I want you to look in the mirror and say you are beautiful. Can you do that? Even if you don’t fully mean it…just yet….it will happen. Because you know what, we are all beautiful. We are all humans, we all look different, we are all unique, and I believe we are all beautiful. I don’t believe we have any flaws or imperfections…you know what, I am perfectly imperfect….just like you. So please…look into the mirror and find something beautiful….
“Millions of people can tell you you’re beautiful. Belief starts with yourself” – Tessa
